ABOUT HOUSTON ANESTHESIA CONSULTANTS
Houston Anesthesia Consultants is a group of medical doctors specializing in Anesthesiology. Our anesthesia training varies, but our principal, Dr. Linda Magill, completed her anesthesia residency from the world renowned, Baylor College of Medicine in the Texas Medical Center in Houston, Texas. All of our physicians are Board Certified/Eligible in Anesthesiology. We have many years of experience performing anesthesia in the community. By using the very same anesthetics and sophisticated, state-of-the-art monitoring in the dental and surgical offices, we make it possible for children and adults alike to have even the most extensive procedures performed in total comfort and safety.
OFFICE BASED ANESTHESIA
Safety is the top priority in our practice. The Texas Medical Board and the American Society of Anesthesiologists have very strict requirements regulating the administration of anesthesia in alternate sites such as dental or surgical office and we meet and exceed these requirements. We are there to deliver the entire anesthetic from start to finish. While patients are under our care we monitor the ECG (heart), blood pressure, oxygen saturation, breathing parameters and the exact amount of anesthetic delivered.
Why Consider Office Based Anesthesia?
- If you have to undergo prolonged or extensive treatment. Extensive and long treatments such as MRI, endoscopy or dental implants, sinus "lift" procedures, full-mouth restoration, multiple crowns, multiple root canals, multiple tooth extractions, or extensive periodontal procedures, anesthesia offers you complete comfort while providing the dentist or physician with excellent working conditions.
- If you want to save time and money. If you don't have time for multiple appointments, anesthesia in the dental office makes it possible to schedule several treatments in one combined session. Fewer appointments means less cost and less time away from work or family.
- If you have anxiety, low pain threshold or claustrophobia. Receiving anesthesia for your procedure, whether it be for an MRI, colonoscopy/EGD, dental or surgical office procedure, you will successfully and safely complete it without feeling pain, having recall or awareness. The American Dental Association reported that 10% of Americans avoid seeking dental treatment because of anxiety or apprehension. Another 15% find treatment so uncomfortable, they fail to return for follow-up procedures. As many as 70% of people with dental insurance neglect to see their dentist because of fear. With HAC dental anesthesia, anxiety and apprehension will disappear instantly, and you will have virtually no memory of the dental treatment. In some instances, the local anesthetics usually used by dentists may not provide enough numbness during the treatment to completely eliminate discomfort. With our anesthesia techniques, medical/surgical procedures and dental treatments are always pain free and hours will seem to pass like seconds.
- If you gag easily. Dental anesthesia suppresses the gag reflex, permitting excellent operating conditions for the dentist. Awareness of the dental treatment during your anesthetic is essentially zero.
- If you have a disability or Special Needs. If you have a physical disability or chronic back pain, making it hard to sit in a dental chair for long periods of time, or have or problems with gagging or holding still, having your dental procedure under anesthesia is the solution. Patients with heart or lung disease, who require careful monitoring during any dental procedure, would benefit greatly from the care and attention of a Physician Anesthesiologist. Patients with mental disabilities often have problems cooperating with the dentist, complicating the treatment, creating anxiety for both the patient and the dentist. Our dental anesthesia techniques resolve this problem, improving both safety and comfort.

is a group of physicians licensed in Texas who are board certified/eligible in Anesthesiology. Our practice was founded with the purpose to fulfill a growing need to provide anesthesia services to physicians and dentists in alternate site settings (such as offices and procedural facilities). This means we come to you fully equipped with our own monitors, anesthesia machine, defibrillator, supplies, and medications. You will not have these worries nor undergo these expenses in order to perform procedures in your own office. We bring them to you. And by administering the very same anesthetics and employing the same sophisticated, state-of-the-art monitoring done in hospitals and surgery centers, we make it possible for children and adults alike to have even the most extensive procedures performed in total comfort and safety in dental and surgical offices while also reducing costs to you and your patient. In other words, HAC Mobile Anesthesia helps make your surgical procedures or dental treatments cost efficient and convenient for you and your patient when performing them in your office. We adhere to the Texas State Board of Medical Examiners and the American Society of Anesthesiologists strict requirements regulating the administration of anesthesia in a dental or surgical office. We are there to deliver the entire anesthetic from start to finish. Patients are continuously monitored intra-operatively and post-operatively. With ACLS and PALS certification, we are always prepared and equipped to manage any emergency ranging from drug reactions and airway difficulties to cardiac arrest and Malignant Hyperthermia.
